I just read that there is a plan to make Jay Asher’s super popular teen novel 13 Reasons Why into a feature film. Here’s the bigger news, I guess…Selena Gomez is expected to star as Hanna Baker.
When we discussed this at Teen Advisory Board yesterday, I think the overall consensus was “HUH!?!” If you haven’t read this book yet, it’s about a guy named Clay who receives a box full of 13 cassettes detailing the events that led to the suicide of one of his classmates, Hanna Baker. Hanna left instructions to share the cassettes with 13 of the classmates that influenced her decision to end her life. We’ll see if this actually makes it to the big screen.
