Yesterday was one of the most exciting days of the year for people who love children’s literature! On 1/23/12, they announced the ALA Youth Media Awards, which include the Newbery (excellence in writing for children) and Caldecott (excellence in illustration), the two biggest awards in children’s literature. This year, the awards went to:
Newbery:
Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos
Caldecott:
A Ball for Daisy by Chris Raschka
