The Irondequoit Public Library’s Community Reflections project amplifies diverse voices in our community through programs and book displays. This month, we’re highlighting Black History with six special programs and a selection of books hand-picked by our librarians.

The Story of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Tuesday, February 6, at 7:00 PM
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is one of the most important pieces of legislation in American history regarding civil rights. Join Mark Sample, a professor in the History department at Monroe Community College, to learn the story of this act.

Eastridge Step Team: Step into Black History Month
Saturday, February 24, at 1:00 PM
Join us at the Community Center for an exciting demonstration of the percussive dance style that will have the audience on their feet! Attendees will be treated to a step performance by the Eastridge step team and will learn about the history and significance of the popular dance style. Families and all ages welcome! No registration required. This program is in partnership with the Irondequoit Recreation Center.
