The James Webb Space Telescope was launched in 2021, and its the latest NASA mission to explore the distant mysteries of the universe. NASA Solar System Ambassador Jim Porter will join us at the library on Tuesday, May 7, at 7:00 PM, to discuss what scientists are learning from the “JWST”.

The James Webb Space Telescope is the largest and most powerful space telescope ever deployed. Its been operational since July of 2022, and the images it has sent back show some of the first stars and galaxies ever formed. Other images include objects near Mars and outwards to the Kuiper Belt. The telescope will also show us how new stars and planets are in the process of forming.

Jim Porter worked for over two decades as an aerospace engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California and the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.
