Join the Irondequoit Historical Society in welcoming Dave Kuchman and his special guest, David Brookins. They will tell us the true story of David Brookins’ dad, Richard, the American St. Nick. This is the 80th anniversary of the joy that was brought to the children of Wiltz, Luxembourg, on December 5th, 1944.
Richard Brookins was a World War II soldier from Irondequoit. He and his fellow soldiers from the 28th Signal Company of the 28th Infantry Division showed humanity and compassion for a town in need in 1944 – and that one simple act of kindness has lasted for decades.
Corporal Richard Brookins was granted honorary citizenship of Wiltz, and a statue was erected in his honor in the Town Square in 2009. In 2016, he was awarded the Luxembourg Military Honor Medal, Luxembourg’s highest honor.
Irondequoit Historical Society – The American St. Nick will be held on Thursday, December 5th, at 7:00 PM.
