About the Foundation

The Irondequoit Public Library Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to fund projects and services that fall outside the taxpayer supported operations budget. To ensure that services, materials, and equipment meet patrons’ expectations, we manage donor contributions so the funds grow securely until needed. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

We collaborate with the Town Board, the Library Board of Trustees, and the Friends of the Library, to provide a high level of support without duplicating efforts.

If you have any questions, please let us know by emailing us at IrondequoitFoundation@gmail.com

Past Projects

The Foundation has provided additional equipment and amenities to the library since the new building opened in 2015.

Each year, the Foundation provides access to database subscriptions, such as Ancestry and ProQuest Historical Newspapers, that are popular but beyond the ability of the library to fund on its own.

When the Town needed a safe haven for residents during days with extreme heat or extreme cold in 2018, the Foundation helped purchase a generator that keeps the library building open and comfortable.

In 2023, the Foundation helped upgrade the library’s Maker’s Lab with new computers, slide and photo scanners, a Cricut, and a Meta Quest VR Headset.

In 2024, the Foundation renovated the Staff Room so that it can operate as both a quiet break room and a high-tech meeting space.

Current Project – Children’s Room Renovation

The library has secured a state grant to turn the Children’s Room into an inviting and safe place that can accommodate interactive programs and entertainment (such as plays, dance, and poetry reading) without disturbing a child’s need to read or seek quiet refuge. We must raise $65,000 to secure the grant. Any amount will be put directly into this project. Contributions of $250 or more will carry your name, if you so choose.
