Even more a century later, the story of the Titanic continues to fascinate historians.

The RMS Titanic set sail on April 10,1912 from Southampton, England on her maiden voyage. After stops in Cherbourg, France and Queenstown, Ireland, she headed out across the Atlantic to her New York City destination. Five days later, she struck an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912. Of her 2240 passengers and crew, 706 survived.

For their next presentation at the library, the Irondequoit Historical Society will welcome Dave Kuchman to talk about Rochester Area Connections to the RMS Titanic.

Dave Kuchman grew up in West Irondequoit and enjoys researching local history. He is a genealogist and a lifelong car enthusiast. And as a Titanic historian, he has visited Belfast, Ireland, and stood on the ground where the Titanic was built.

Irondequoit Historical Society Presents Rochester Area Connections to the RMS Titanic will be held on Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 PM. No registration is required to attend, so please join us if you can!
