Orchids are fascinating plants with interesting and often beautiful flowers. And the Genesee Region Orchid Society has been sharing their virtues with the Rochester area since 1968!
David Weiss, a member for more than 45 years and a past President, will join us at the library on Sunday, April 12, at 1:30 PM, to teach attendees about orchids and how to grow them in Rochester.
David grows orchids under lights in his basement and outdoors in the Summer. His talk will include a slideshow, as well as blooming orchids to discuss. Come learn basic information on orchid distribution around the world, identification characteristics, naming, and of course how to grow orchids in northern New York. Growing orchids in the home is easy if you follow a few very simple rules… but the first rule is there are no rules.
Attendees are encouraged to bring in their orchids for discussion. They might be very happy with beautiful flowers, or maybe a little sad and need some special care.
All attendees will also receive a discount coupon for the upcoming 2026 Genesee Region Orchid Show, which will be held from April 17-19 at the Rochester Museum and Science Center.
No registration is required to attend Orchids and the 2026 Genesee Region Orchid Society Show, and we hope you’ll be able to join us!
