Retired professor David Schuler will provide a photographic tour of Guatemala at the library on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:30 PM.
Guatemala’s weather is beautiful in Winter, and with only one hour time difference and a short flight from Rochester, the country is truly a hidden gem. It boasts many historical and cultural sites and a wonderful variety of natural beauty.
During this travelogue, attendees will take a leisurely ride on the Rio Dulce, discover the famous Mayan ruins of Tikal, wander through Central America’s largest indigenous market in Chichicastenango, explore the magical Mayan village of San Juan La Laguna on spectacular, volcanic Lake Atitlán, and marvel at the resplendent Spanish colonial architecture and churches of Antigua, the Kingdom’s first capital.
