Mark Sample, a professor in the History Department at Monroe Community College, will return to the library to spill some ink about Ida Tarbell and the Muckrakers on Thursday, September 24, at 6:30 PM.
This presentation will explore the extraordinary life of journalist Ida Tarbell and the activist press that tried to fight for labor reforms against John D. Rockefeller and Standard Oil. Professor Sample will also discuss the economic realities of life at the turn of the 19th century, as well as Standard Oil’s absolute domination of the oil industry.
