The Irondequoit Historical Society and Historic Pittsford will join forces to present an Introduction to Wood Windows Workshop with Steve Jordan.
During this workshop on wood windows, Steve Jordan will speak about the different parts and pieces of a wood window and how to repair and restore them to their former glory. Participants will also be able to watch a window glazing demonstration and have an opportunity to try window glazing for themselves.
Steve Jordan grew up in West Tennessee. After graduating from Memphis State University with a BA in history, he went on to complete Cornell University’s graduate program in historic preservation. Now semi-retired, he previously worked in the building trades as a preservation specialist repairing and restoring old and historic windows and still consults on window and preservation projects around the country. He served as rehab advisor for the Landmark Society of Western New York for six years, as an architectural conservator for Bero Architecture for four years, and as a contributing editor for Old-House Journal from 1998 through 2015.
Steve is the author of several books about home repair and restoration, including Rehab Rochester: A Sensible Guide for Old-House Maintenance, Repair, and Rehabilitation (1995); Window Glazing: Puttying and Replacing Glass in Traditional Wood Windows (2023); The Historic House Handbook (2025); and others.
Steve will be selling and signing copies of his book after the presentation and hands-on demonstration.
