Kim Bixler’s family owned the Edward E. Boynton House in Rochester (built in 1908 by Frank Lloyd Wright) from 1977 to 1994. In this multimedia presentation, Kim recounts the joys and pitfalls of owning and living in a Wright-designed home. Living with the public’s curiosity, playing hide-and-seek, coping with the habitually leaky roof, and managing constant renovations make this an unforgettable story.
Kim Bixler’s latest book is Growing Up in a Frank Lloyd Wright House. She was featured in the PBS documentary Frank Lloyd Wright’s Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years and has appeared on NPR’s Here & Now in conjunction with Wright’s 150th birthday celebration.
Growing Up in a Frank Lloyd Wright House will be held online through Zoom on Tuesday, October 20, at 6:00 PM. Registration with an email address through our Online Calendar is required, and participants will receive an email with the log-in information for the Zoom meeting.
