Dr. Andrea Hickerson is the Director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina, and she conducts research on journalism routines with an emphasis on technology use and political communication.

She’ll join us for an online presentation through Zoom, Understanding Media: Assessing News, Misinformation, Disinformation, and Deepfakes, on Monday, December 7, at 6:00 PM. Dr. Hickerson will share information about her research as well as how to better evaluate the disinformation that has invaded our social media feeds:

It’s easy to blame “the media” for fueling society’s ills, but what do journalists actually do and how strong are media effects? In this presentation, you will hear an overview of cutting-edge research on journalism practices and learn helpful tips on how to assess media bias, misinformation, disinformation, and deepfakes in news and on social media.

Please register for this program with your email address through our Online Calendar. Registrants will receive an email with the Zoom login information.
