Today is one of the most exciting days of the year for children’s & teen librarians and anyone else who loves literature for young people! At the Midwinter conference in Seattle, ALA (American Library Association) announced the top books for children and teens, including the winners of the Newbery, Caldecott, and Printz medals.
Newbery winner (excellence in writing for children): The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
Caldecott winner (outstanding picture book): This is Not My Hat, written and illustrated by Jon Klassen
Printz winner (excellence in writing for teens): In Darkness by Nick Lake
