Irondequoit and Poltava – Sister Libraries Cultural Exchange 2025

In 2025, the Irondequoit Public Library participated in a library program Cultural Exchange with our sister library in Poltava, Ukraine. Our friends in Poltava sent us instructions on how to make a traditional Ukrainian motanka doll and we sent them instructions on how to make an authentic American jack-o-lantern.

We’ve partnered with Allendale Columbia’s Black Student Union to host a Toy Drive at the library from now until Tuesday, December 16. Spread the joy and help a family in need this holiday season by donating a toy for children that are 2-12 years old.
