The Classic Book Discussion Group will venture out into the wilderness next month as they will read and discuss Henry David Thoreau’s Walden in August 2022.

*****

BOOK DESCRIPTION: In 1845 Thoreau, a Harvard-educated 28-year-old, went to live by himself in the woods in Massachusetts. He stayed for over two years, living self-sufficiently in a small cabin built with his own hands. Walden is his personal account of the experience, in which he documents the beauty and fulfilment to be found in the wilderness, and his philosophical and political motivations for rejecting the materialism which continues to define our modern world.

An in-person discussion of Walden will be held on Thursday, August 25, at 3:00 PM. If you’d like to attend, please register now through our Event Calendar.

Copies of Walden are currently available on our 1st Floor on the Book Discussion Shelf (just behind our New Books shelves).
