2023 In Review (So Far)
In 2023, the Friends of the Library hosted the following programs, projects, and events:
— Monthly Tween & Teen Anime, Escape Room, and Dungeons & Dragons , Young Writers Club for Tweens and Write on for Teens
— Special Program: Embodied Empowerment Yoga for tweens & teens
— Special Program: Summer Reading 2023 Prizes, gift cards, and Red Wings tickets to raffle weekly for the children’s, tween, and teen programs.
Monroe County Library System Friends Council Meeting
On April 19th, we hosted the semi-annual MCLS Friends meeting at the Irondequoit Library. Librarian Sarah Knight gave participants a tour and shared her expertise about our Maker’s Lab; former Friends Board member, Jon Kriegel, spoke about his own passion of 3D printing in Lab. Both fielded many questions about its capabilities and ways library patrons can use it.
It’s always great to see how many people are committed to our Monroe County libraries through the Friends!
The Friends are working on organizing a members event – stay tuned for an e-vite to follow!
Light snacks will be provided; join fellow members for some summer fun!

Our Fall Book Sale will be held on September 29th – 30th. Friends will also get to shop the Member Preview event on September 29th from 10AM – 12PM.
The Library is Looking for Friends
The Friends of the Irondequoit Library is seeking energetic and community-oriented library lovers to assist in our fundraising and advocacy efforts. The Friends coordinate special events to raise funds which provide programming, library materials and services that might not otherwise be offered for IPL’s patrons.
If you love the Library, are seeking ways to get involved in your community, want to meet new people, and find joy in volunteering for a great cause, consider applying to be a Friends Board Member! Email a note of your interest to irondequoitlibraryfriends@gmail.com!
