The Irondequoit Historical Society will welcome Jerry Bennett, a Community Development Specialist at DePaul, to the library on Thursday, October 2, at 7:00 PM.
His presentation, Slave Experience and The Underground Railroad, will delve into the harrowing journey of enslaved individuals on a slave ship in the cramped quarters of the ship’s hold during their treacherous passage across the Atlantic to the heartbreaking sale on the auction block in the American South. Jerry will also discuss life on the plantation, the courage of those who dared to escape, and the perilous journey to freedom along the routes of the Underground Railroad.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to gain insight into the resilience and heroism of those who fought for freedom.
No registration is required to attend, so please join us if you can!
