Joe Struble was the Collections Manager for the Photography Collection at the George Eastman House for 26 years, and his wealth of knowledge about photograph preservation, the history of photography, and the artistry behind a well composed photograph is unmatched in the Rochester area.

The Irondequoit Historical Society will welcome Mr. Struble at the library on Thursday, December 7, at 7:00 PM, for Pinpoint Photography, a presentation on the history of snapshot photography.

After 1880, a series of photographic innovations – handheld and folding cameras, roll film, the astigmatic lens and the cheap Brownie camera – made photography faster, simpler, and available to nearly everyone. Snapshots, such as many of the ones selected for this talk, have their own truths, as well as their own peculiar charms.

No registration is necessary to attend the Irondequoit Historical Society’s Pinpoint Photography program, so please join us if you can!
