The Irondequoit Public Library seeks to fill two vacancies on the Library Board of Trustees. Candidates must be a resident of the Town of Irondequoit at the time of appointment.

Trustees serve a five-year term. As a working board, Trustees are expected to participate in monthly Library Board meetings, regular committee meetings, and additional meetings as required. The Library Board meetings are held at the Irondequoit Public Library and occur on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM.

General responsibilities include:
— Duty of care
— Advocacy
— Fiscal management
— Approval of library policy

The Irondequoit Public Library is particularly interested in recruiting candidates with a background in municipal, nonprofit, or corporate finance and budgeting.

Ideal candidates are:
— Active library users
— Able to work together with other Library Trustees, community stakeholders, and library employees in the spirit of collaboration
— Involved in other impactful activities in the community
— Familiar with technologies common in the library environment such as the Microsoft Office suite, ebooks, downloadable audiobooks, video conferencing, and the use of smartphones/tablets.
