The Irondequoit Library is celebrating Caldecott Medal season with our Mock Caldecott Medal Contest!
Join us in the Children’s Library from now until January 29th to show your appreciation for the past year of picture books!
Families may vote on their pick for the 2023 Caldecott Medal, and if your selection matches the national winner, you’ll win a prize!
WHAT IS THE CALDECOTT MEDAL?
Every year, a committee votes on their favorite picture book from the past year. That book receives an award known as the Caldecott Medal. The book they pick has to meet certain criteria to win:
— A picture book for children
— Written in the past year (January 2022 – December 2022)
— Written by someone who lives in the Untited States
— A picture book that children like, and that likes children back
— AND MOST IMPORTANT: Well illustrated (it needs really good pictures!)
The winner of the 2023 Caldecott Medal will be announced on January 30th!
