Mark Sample, a professor in the History Department at Monroe Community College, will join us at the library to tell a few Civil War Stories on Thursday, July 23, at 7:00 PM.
This presentation will dive into both well-known and overlooked perspectives from Civil War period. We’ll explore the experiences of Black soldiers, look at the draft riots surrounding the war, and consider the impactful Presidential election of 1864. These stories will provide further context for the Emancipation Proclamation, the Gettysburg address, and Lincoln’s assassination.
