Go Inside the Frederick Douglass Airport and learn more about Rochester’s 100-year-old airport from an insider’s point of view.

Rick Iekel spent 28 years working at the Frederick Douglass Airport, which was formerly known as the Rochester International Airport. He started his career in 1965 as a customer service agent for United Airlines, was hired by Monroe County as the Assistant Airport Manager in 1973, and took over the reins as Airport Manager in 1989. Prior to leaving the airport in 1993, Rick was named Director of Aviation.

Within the perimeter of a commercial airport, the yin and yang of daily activities provide fodder for a fascinating story.

Inside the Frederick Douglass Airport will be held on Tuesday, January 17, at 7:00 PM. If you’d like to attend, please register now through our Event Calendar.
