In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal and Black History Month, please join us in welcoming Erie Canal Museum staff for Pathway of Resistance: The Erie Canal and the Underground Railroad.
Pathway of Resistance is a constantly evolving talk that examines the experience of African Americans along the Erie Canal Corridor, with a particular focus on the struggle for abolition. While parts of this story are unpleasant, slavery, racism, and resistance are critical to understanding our society today.
This program will be held on Tuesday, February 18, at 2:00 PM. If you’d like to attend, please register now through our Event Calendar.
