The sun and moon will align for a total solar eclipse over Rochester, NY on Monday, April 8. The Great American Eclipse 2024 will be the first in our area in over 100 years.

The last eclipse in our area, in 2017, appeared as a partial eclipse. But this time we’ll see the main event as the track of totality passes right over the entire county!

If you’re looking to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, you’ll want to join us on Tuesday, March 19, at 7:00 PM for a presentation from NASA Solar System Ambassador Jim Porter to discover what awaits us in April 2024.

Jim Porter worked for over two decades as an aerospace engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California and the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.

If you can’t join us in-person for The Great American Eclipse 2024, you’ll also have the chance to view it online. Register to attend now through our Event Calendar and choose whether you’d like to watch the program at the library or at home via livestream using Zoom. Participants who choose the online option will receive an email with the login information for the Zoom meeting.
