Mark Sample is a professor in the History Department at Monroe Community College, and he will join us to commemorate Women’s History Month on Tuesday, March 7, at 7:00 PM. Professor Sample will introduce attendees to a female journalist who walked her own path and changed history: Ida Tarbell.

Tarbell was one of the most famous journalists for McClure’s, an important US magazine in the 1890s-1920s, and it was staffed by other muckraking journalists who pointed out the ills of society. Tarbell wrote a history-making expose and book about the bad business practices of John Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Company.

If you’d like to attend Ida Tarbell: A Muckraking Journalist, please register now through our Event Calendar. Participants have the choice of viewing this program in person at the library or at home via a Zoom livestream.

Participants who choose the online option will receive an email with the login information for Zoom before the program begins.
