Did you know that New York State has over 4,400 local governments and that each creates their own records?
Many of these records are very valuable for family history research, and this month’s meeting of the IPL Genealogy Group will focus on Using Local Government Records for Local and Family History. During this session, our presenter will provide an overview of the local government structure in New York State, as well as review local government records useful for family history research, and provide tips on the best way to access these records.
Certified Records Manager David F. Lowry is an Archives and Records Management Specialist at the New York State Archives where he manages the Local Government Advisory Services Unit. He also has extensive experience in genealogical research, and his work has been published in the New England Historic Genealogical Register.
This presentation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at 7:00 PM.
You’ll have a choice of attending this meeting of the IPL Genealogy Group in person at the library or at home via Zoom. Registration with an email address is required through our Event Calendar, and those who choose the online option will receive an email with the login information for Zoom.
