Did you know that George Lucas in Love has a Rochester connection? It’s true! The award-winning short film was written and directed by Rochester native Joe Nussbaum.

It was also selected to appear at the Rochester International Film Festival in 1999, and it’ll be shown as part of our upcoming collaboration with the festival’s organizers: Movies on a Shoestring Presents Best of the Fest.

George Lucas in Love will join six other films during a special screening at the library on Tuesday, May 23, at 7:00 PM:

Him and Her — What if a magical treehouse could illustrate our fantasies and desires and our personal shortcomings? (Nathalie Lamb – 2019 – 8 minutes)

Two Balloons — Two adventurous lemurs navigate their dirigibles airship halfway around the world to reunite. (Mark Smith – 2019 – 9 minutes)

Free — A true story of a young enslaved man who is given a pathway from slavery to freedom through literacy. (Ben Hartley – 2019 – 12 minutes)

The Bench — There is more than meets the eye in this random encounter on a park bench. (Cameron Burnett – 2016 – 6 minutes)

All films from this program are rated PG and no registration is require to attend Movies on a Shoestring Presents Best of the Fest.

The 2023 Rochester International Film Festival will be held at the Dryden Theatre from June 8-10.
