The Erie Canal revolutionized Upstate New York, bringing new ideas, people, and industries to the region, as well as sparking a firestorm of change.
To celebrate Women’s History Month, an educator from the Erie Canal Museum will be joining us at the library to talk about the history of the Erie Canal and its role in women’s suffrage and beyond. The presentation will cover how the fight for women’s rights grew out of the changes brought about by the Canal and the movement’s dependence on networks that the Canal facilitated.
Waterways of Change with the Erie Canal Museum will be held on Thursday, March 26, at 7:00 PM. If you’d like to attend, please register now through our Event Calendar.
