On April 21, 1945, Tuskegee Airman Leland “Sticky” Pennington took off on a flight in “Lucy Gal,” his P-51 Mustang. World War II was drawing near a close, but his services as a bomber escort pilot were still sorely needed. En route to a mission, the pilot from Rochester went missing in action, and he has never been found.
His story, however, is still flying.
Austin Hancock is a pilot/flight instructor, and he’ll share Airman Pennington’s story at the library in The Tuskegee Airmen: Keeping an MIA Redtail Pilot’s Story Flying on Thursday, May 22, at 7:00 PM. He was born in Rochester and works as a museum specialist for the National Warplane Museum in nearby Geneseo. Flying is his passion.
No registration is required to attend this program, so please join us if you can.
